New Danish Action Plan for Eco-innovation, draft launched in December 2009

The Danish EPA has launched a draft version of a new Danish Action Plan for Eco-innovation 2010-2011. The draft version was in public hearing until 11 January 2010. The action plan is expected to be published in the early spring after final political decision.

The Danish EPA has launched a draft version of a new Danish Action Plan for Eco-innovation 2010-2011. The draft version was in public hearing until 11 January 2010. The Ministry for Environment received 31 answers. The action plan is expected to be published in the early spring after final political decision.

The Action Plan is a result of a political agreement regarding the economic means for a continued effort to support eco-innovation in Denmark in the period 2010-2011. The goal is to give companies and other stakeholders a good basis for development of eco efficient solutions to a number of global environmental challenges.

The Action Plan has focus on environmental challenges within the areas: air pollution, water and waste. The activities will include economical support to research, development and demonstration of technological solutions, establishment of public/private partnerships with the aim to facilitate development and implementation of solutions and support to companies who wish to demonstrate eco efficient solutions on the global market.

Environmental technologies

Any technology, that either directly or indirectly improves the environment. It includes technologies for limiting pollution with the held of cleaning, more environmentally friendly products and production processes, more efficient energy and ressource management as well as technological systems that reduce the environmental impact.

Examples include e.g. technology flue gas cleaning, wind turbines, water treatment, enzymes for animal feed and washing powder, biofuel production, energy-efficient pumps and substitution of chemicals with more environmentally friendly solutions.
